Keeping Your Home Warm in Style
(MS) - How do you stay warm and still maintain your sense of style? Logically, the answer comes from Canada, where keeping out the cold is an art form. One company, Pollard Windows, has combined the luxury and energy efficiency of traditional wood windows inside with the maintenance free benefits of vinyl outside. They call this product line The Liberty Collection. And according to Manhattan interior designer John Davison, that's good news. "Americans want products that not only look great, but don't demand a lot of upkeep. I think there is a huge market for wood interior/vinyl exterior windows. It's the best of both worlds - practical luxury," he says. "Windows are an essential part of a home's appeal and we want to give our customers freedom of choice," says Karen Pollard-Josling, director of marketing for Pollard Windows. "Previously, homeowners had to make a tough choice: beauty on the inside or durability on the outside. Well, we thought that wasn't good enough. The Liberty Collection lets you customize every room with natural wood windows while enjoying exteriors that won't flake, warp, chip or rust." Pollard-Josling says that Pollard Windows views windows as if they're "great furniture. They have to be that beautiful." She continues, "Natural wood selections include maple, oak and pine so you can have windows that match your rustic pine kitchen, your formal oak dining room mantel and the maple floor in the study." The PVC exterior is available in four standard colors including Pearl White, Silversand, Autumn Ivory or Cocoa Brown, as well as custom colors. Pollard adds, "And for the look of traditional wood window detailing, we offer brickmold and simulated divided lites." Toronto-based home builder Steve Stipsits of Branthaven Homes has used the Liberty Collection on a wide range of homes, from multi-million dollar custom to middle income projects. He says that one thing remains constant: "When people are planning their dream home, they want a selection of interesting and dramatic window styles. The Liberty Collection includes everything from traditional, octagonal, trapezoid and elliptical - something for every architectural motif." He continues, "I've never had a problem finding what I need from Pollard. For example, I recently used Liberty on a custom home that featured ornate maple woodwork. Pollard's Liberty Collection allowed me to easily achieve a seamless transition between the window and the surrounding wood work. The homeowners were very pleased." And do they keep out the cold? Canadians don't mess around with energy efficiency. "Pollard windows are very well made. They turn a house into a very warm home," says Stipsits.
