New Composite Hidden Fastener Decks are Easy on the Eyes and Feet 

On a crisp autumn morning, you wake up at a respectable 6:36 a.m. and meander into the kitchen. Pouring your coffee, you gaze out at your deck.

The most inviting sunbeam warms a spot on your wicker armchair. You open the sliding door and venture out into cool, crisp morning air. Your naked feet brace for a slight chill, a good chill, the kind that gets your blood flowing.

Gliding over, coffee and paper in tow, that's when it happens. OUCH. A sliver is also in "toe" - your right toe.

Hopping on your left foot, scalding coffee slops onto your robe, burning through to your thigh. As you hobble over toward the wicker coffee table, SLAM! Could it be? Now your left foot has taken a hit. The culprit - an innocent looking nail head, rising a mere eighth of an inch from the surface, just enough to slice a few painful layers of skin off the ball of your foot.

How could such a promising morning suddenly turn so wrong? Some would say it's fate. Others would say it's time to get a new deck.

Scenarios like this are exactly why luxury home builder Ozzie Bourke recently installed a splinter-free, hidden fastener deck system in Lorraine Gaylor's new dream home in Wells, Maine.

"Lorraine's new deck is right off her kitchen. She wanted a beautiful, easy to care for deck that would extend her living space outdoors. And like any living space, you don't expect your building materials to interfere with comfort," Bourke says. "Composite decking, in this case, was the solution. Ozzie selected CorrectDeck's Signature Series because of its invisible fastening system. "It's easy on the eye and easy on the feet," he explains. "Also, their color selection is extensive. We wanted a shade that would complement the interior as well as reflect the home's natural setting. We used CorrectDeck's Cedar for the job, and it's perfect. And CorrectDeck is made from UV-stabilized polypropylene and hardwood fiber, so it's tougher and more fade resistant than other composites."

As for Lorraine? Just about every morning, at about 6:36 a.m., you can find her sipping a hot cup of coffee while reading the morning paper on her deck.
